Dihydrotestosterone The Culprit in Hair Loss

What Is DHT?

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone in our body that is naturally produced both in men and women. The enzyme known as 5-alpha-reductase essentially converts testosterone into DHT and contributes to the development of human characteristics; such as body hair, deep voice, muscle mass and more. However, as you get older DHT can eventually link to receptors on hair follicles in the scalp and can cause them to shrink or become less capable of supporting hair growth. Men typically have more testosterone present in the body and therefore are more susceptible to hair loss by about 10%.

DHT is further recognized as Hereditary Hair Loss, Hair Loss caused by genetics and/or Male/Female Pattern Baldness. It is estimated that 95% of all hair loss in individuals is caused by DHT.

The Damage of DHT on Hair Follicles

There are 3 phases to the normal hair growth cycle:

Hair Phases

  • Anagen Phase: This is the growth phase. The same hair will grow for between 2 to 6 years. Around 80% of all hairs on the head are in this phase.
  • Catagen Phase: This is a transition phase that only lasts a few weeks and basically allows the follicle to begin renewing itself.
  • Telogen Phase: This is the resting phase. The hair follicle will become dormant (asleep) for anywhere between 1 to 4 months. This accounts for about 20% of all hairs on the head. After this cycle, the Anagen phase will begin again pushing away the old hair and growing in the new.

Effect on Hair Growth

The DHT homone causes the Anagen phase to get shorter (less time for hair growth) and the Telogen phase to get longer (more resting time without producing new hair). The impact on the hair growth cycle and shrinking of hair follicles eventually causes hair to thin out and then stop regrowing.

Natural Regain: A DHT Blocker Derived from Nature

Natural Regain DHT BlockerNot only is Natural Regain a formula that aids in scalp circulation and the widening of hair follicles for better hair growth, it also contains herbal Qi tonics such as Carthamus Tinctorius which blocks DHT by inhibiting 5a-reductase stopping the enzyme from converting testosterone into DHT.

By eliminating DHT from the pores in the scalp, it enables hair follicles to regain activity and begin regrowing hair normally again. Pattern hair loss in both men and women can be reversed.

Most DHT blockers on the market are drugs that are taken orally and are usually associated with side effects which include but are not limited to sexual dysfunction and other hormonal problems. That is why most dermatologists highly suggested to use topical sprays such as Natural Regain to block DHT without the use of drugs or chemicals which can harm the body.
